1. Soil Preparation
Plant bulbs in well-drained soil. Mix garden soil with compost and sand for best results. Ensure the pot has drainage holes.
2. Planting Depth
Planting depth should be 2–3 times the bulb size. Place the pointed end facing up. Space bulbs 4–6 inches apart.
3. Sunlight
Provide full or partial sunlight based on variety. Most bulbs need 4–6 hours of direct sunlight daily.
4. Watering
Avoid overwatering. Water when the top soil feels dry. Good drainage is essential to prevent bulb rot.
5. Best Planting Time in India
Winter bulbs: October–December. Summer bulbs: February–April. Monsoon bulbs: June–August.
6. Fertilizing
Apply balanced fertilizer during the growing season. Bone meal is excellent for bulb health. Reduce fertilizer after flowering.
7. After Flowering Care
Let foliage die back naturally to store energy. Reduce watering during dormancy. Store bulbs in cool, dry place if needed.
